Mark Lennard

Mark studied business, economics and statistics before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1983, obtaining his practicing certificate in 1985 and fellowship in 1995. He started managing the predecessor firm to Lennards, Dakin & Co, in 1985 becoming Principal in 1992. He has always maintained an audit and financial services accreditation. He has also taken a keen interest IT implementation, giving lectures on financial database design and assisting in software design since the 1980s. He has been a director of two specialist software firms and served on the boards of a number of charitable trusts. Being a partner or principal for nearly 30 years has given him the inside view of businesses often lacking in accountants who have always been employed by larger firms, his advice often draws on personal experiences and he has obtained a reputation for “thinking outside the box”.

He has a wide range of hobbies including keyboard playing (strictly stuck in the 70s) motor cycling, sailing and voracious reading, especially science fiction. A requirement to communicate with his children has resulted in a certain (but inferior) facility with the Xbox.

Catherine Lennard

Catherine originally worked in large payroll and statistics departments within the civil service and left after ten years to start a family. She returned to work at the practice in 1995 and since then has concentrated mainly on payroll and taxation, both corporate and personal. Outside of work she has been involved with Girlguiding UK for many years and has recently joined a choir.

Ruth Gorton

Ruth started work part time at the practice in 1999 when her children started school and has since changed to full time. She studied for her AAT and qualified in 2004. Her principal roles within the practice are accounts preparation and assisting in audits. General book keeping including VAT returns are also part of her responsibilities. When not at work she enjoys watching football, motor sport, travelling and long walks by the sea.

Heather Auty

Heather has been a member of the team at Lennards Chartered Accountants since April 2000. The practice supported me to study for the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification which she achieved in 2007, becoming a full member of the association in 2008. Within the practice she manage the company secretarial changes, assist on audits, accounts preparation, VAT and book-keeping.

Outside of work her hobbies include being a member of the Run England Group, her latest challenge being a 10K run. She recently joined a local choir.

Nigel Bradley

Nigel studied Computer Science & Accounting at Manchester University before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1986. His experiences to date have covered accounts preparation, tax and company secretarial for owner managed businesses, Share Registration and CREST. More recent experience covers IT advice, financial software implementations, and support, website design with Google adwords and search engine optimisation.

He has worked in all aspects of the taxes & duties which were the responsibility of HMCE, including probate and entertainment duty. In1972 he was among the very first officers trained in VAT, and worked in the Investigation Division dealing with smuggling and major VAT fraud.
